About

The present day

right2use is a software publishing company specialising in Software Asset Management related products for managers, in particular products that produce useful software licence management information by leveraging the raw data produced by tools already deployed.

Software Organiser, our flagship product, is used by hundreds of managers in large corporate and SME companies to help estimate the risk of non compliance and then move forward towards a level of risk that is acceptable to the organisation. In addition some of the largest IT Service Provision companies use Software Organiser to deliver compliance reports to their customers on a contractual basis.

Software Organiser was developed, and continues to be developed, by practising software licensing consultants (apologies for using the C word) with input from product publishers, vendors, and licensing enforcement agencies. On product selection enquiries, we often refer potential customers to existing customers.

right2use history

Prior to 2003, when right2use was established,  the company founders were deeply involved in the development, sales and support of third party SAM products; the obvious ‘hole in the market’ was a tool that would manage the reconciliation of licensing documentation with what was installed to ultimately determine the legal use of software. Although many discovery tools 'positioned' themselves as software compliance tools almost all failed to deliver compliance as they delivered only a very small part of the solution; raw data.

Due to the widespread proliferation of discovery tools we decided not to include software auditing in Software Organiser but to deliver the missing pieces of the software compliance equation and proposed that the customer need not waste money reinvesting in new SAM technology, but use their existing SAM tools in conjunction with Software Organiser to create the ideal software licence management system.
